The Soviet redundancy in industry, army and medicine was created to win a major war with the West; Russia will have to make a serious effort to regain this redundancy, stated philosopher, analyst, and the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan in a new installment of the original program Destiny, published on the movement’s Youtube channel on December 30.
In a conflict with the West, Russia needs a three-million-strong army, but this army will be very expensive, Kurginyan said.
“That’s three million highly paid, highly qualified specialists with the appropriate moral motivation, lifestyle and all the rest. It costs a lot. It’s not two percent of the budget, and it’s not three, and not five, and not even seven. But if there is no alternative, then so be it,” the expert explained.
The powerful strengthening of the army should be accompanied by a similar strengthening of the military-industrial complex which needs to become self-sufficient, the political scientist emphasized. The elite in Russia will also have to reconsider its attitude toward the impossibility of a large conventional war, which we did get in fact.
“We need another military-industrial complex considering current environment. <…> These reserves are needed. They were not a soviet idiocy, but a means of quick conversion to the war industry,” the analyst explained.
The financial system in Russia has withstood a powerful sanctions strike by the West, the shelves have not emptied, but big money cannot solve all problems. Kurginyan added that money would be needed to buy tanks and missiles, for the production of which there are redundant capacities.
“I keep asking, over and over again: did Stalin only dream of fighting on foreign territory and with little effort, or did he build zero cycles in the Urals? Well, he did build them. So, it was possible to quickly switch to the war track.
And the factories were dual-purpose, and there were reserve capacities, and all those ‘Soviet gerontocrats,’ the Ustinovs and others, kept those reserve capacities because they were afraid that there would be war, and they wanted to win! They still remembered what it was like,” Kurginyan recalled.
The military-industrial complex cannot be reconstructed without large industry and machine tools construction, and they require an engineering staff, new industry sectors, and full-fledged electronics. And it will cost trillions of dollars, Kurginyan noted.
“This engineering staff needs science support, which will feel itself good. On top of it we still have, apparently, biological wars to come, so we need our own science in very many areas. Not a copy of the Western, but our own, which will absorb and rethink all the most powerful Western science,“- said the philosopher.
And to restore the national science and industry Russia will need an ideology, emphasized the leader of the Essence of Time movement. To win the dangerous and large-scale confrontation with the West, Russia will have to do all of the above, and it will already be another Russia.
