Russian Air Forces aircraft destroyed a fuel depot of the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham militant group (organization banned in Russia) on March 21 in the Syrian Idlib province, a source in Syria informs.
“The Russian Aerospace Forces attacked a fuel depot of Watad Petroleum company fuel near Sarmada town in northern Idlib,” the source informed. The fuel company is under the control of the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham militant group (organization banned in Russia).
According to the Syrian opposition, a Russian Air Forces Su-34 aircraft delivered the air strike. There was no official confirmation of this information.
Earlier, the Syrian army attacked a fuel depot of Turkish-backed militants near Al-Hamran village in the Aleppo province. The attack was so powerful that the Turkish Defense Ministry reacted to it, releasing a statement calling on Russia to intervene.
A ceasefire has been in effect in Syria since March 6, 2020. It does not extend to terrorist grops such as Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (n organization banned in Russia).
Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (organization banned in Russia) is a major Turkish-backed militant group operating in Syrian Idlib province. The organization has around 18,000 fighters.
It was originally called Jabhat al-Nusra (organization banned in Russia), but it changed its name after it was listed as an international terrorist organization.
