Kurginyan: Ukraine’s invasion of DPR and LPR means the end of Ukrainian statehood

11.06.2018, Moscow.

If Ukraine begins a full-scale invasion and genocide of the DPR and LPR, this can lead to collapse Ukrainian statehood, political scientist and leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said on June 10 on the air of the Evening with Vladimir Solovyov TV program at the Russian Channel 1.

Commenting a statement made by Ukrainian political scientist Vasil Vakarov, Kurginyan said, “We will defend the DPR and LPR from a full-scale invasion and genocide, which would require 60 to 100 thousand Ukrainian servicemen and about 1,000 vehicles. If this invasion begins, it means the collapse of the Ukrainian statehood and other consequences.”

According to the expert, the response to the invasion will be severe and complete, because the invasion would mean genocide, “I have to remind you that, according to all UN norms, a state that takes the path of genocide must be dissolved based on the fact of genocide alone. Further, a law must come into effect according to which we must establish an external rule over the territory of the criminal state that performs genocide.”

At the same time, the analyst pointed out that provocations made by several tens of people will not result in Russia’s intervention into the war, but they will be suppressed by the DPR and LPR corps.

The President of Russia Vladimir Putin, answering a question from the DPR leader’s advisor Zakhar Prilepin at a TV phone-in on June 7, said that an attempt by Ukrainian authorities’ to use the World Cup 2018 for an offensive against the DPR and LPR may have the most serious consequences for the Ukrainian statehood.
