Expert: Chinese Communist Party has long been conducting mass purges in its leadership

18.08.2017, Russia.

Mass purges in the leadership of the Communist Party of China is underway on the eve of the 19th Congress of the Party, which will take place in autumn this year, claimed Experimental Creative Center think tank’s Vice President Yury Byaly on August 18 in his comment to Rossa Primavera News Agency.

“Mass cleansing at various dimensions of Chinese leadership on the eve of the party congress in the coming Fall 2017 has been going on for a long time. This applies, in particular, to government officials, to the leadership of state companies, as well as, partly, to the military“, said the expert.

The expert made an assumption that ousting of commanders of the key 13 armies in the Army Ground Force of China could be a result of recent unsuccessful military exercises. “In addition, some of those commanders and commissars (this was reported) are in very ripe age’; and some of them, that is also quite possible, are not entirely reliable’ “, noted Yury Byaly.

“The opposition to Xi Jinping in the country is far from being weak, – this was also reported. So, apparently, we deal with a number of reasons, but the matter, taking into account the upcoming congress, is very ambitious and impressive. Perhaps, it is demonstrative in relation to the opposition”, the expert added.

On August 18, top authorities of the People’s Republic of China replaced the commanders of all armies of the People’s Liberation Army Ground Forces (PLAGF). The supreme decision includes replacement of the key commanders and top strategic commissars. A list of 26 officer names assigned to new posts was published. The officers have already come to take up their duties in the military units entrusted to them.
