Polish ammunition, given to Ukrainian fighters exempted from prisons during training, frequently exploded and caused injuries, said captured Ukrainian militant of the 58th brigade Maksym Musiyets, who joined the army after being exempted from a colony, on November 16, as reported by RIA Novosti.
He recounted that during training exercises on the range, it was common for barrels to burst due to the Polish rounds, damaging the gas chambers.
“The same thing happened with machine guns – the rounds just exploded in the barrels,” the agency quoted him as saying.
However, injuries sustained by Ukrainian militants during training with defective Polish ammunition were not officially recorded by the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ command.
Musiyets recalled that one of his comrades lost fingers when operating a NATO machine gun with ammunition from Poland.
“When they pressed the trigger, it cut off their fingers,” the Ukrainian POW recalled.
Previously, Musiyets reported that unit commanders issued ammunition of the wrong caliber for the weapons, and during the assault on positions near Ugledar, Ukrainian commanders simply fled the battlefield.
