Russian Embassy: Diplomats were not the target of terrorists in Pakistan

22.09.2024, Islamabad.

The target of the terrorist attack in Pakistan was not the diplomats but the escorting police officers, representatives of the Russian Embassy informed journalists on September 22.

“According to Pakistani sources, it was indeed an improvised explosive device,” the press service noted. It was specified that this was a targeted attack on law enforcement officers.

On September 22, one police officer was killed, and four others were injured when an escort vehicle for a diplomatic convoy was blown up. Among the foreign diplomats was the Russian Ambassador Albert Khorev. None of the diplomats were harmed.

Khorev, along with other foreign ambassadors, was invited to the Tourism Development Forum in the Swat Valley of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The explosion occurred as the convoy was returning to Islamabad.
