Novogrodovka in the DPR was liberated in battles by units of the Center group, the Russian Defense Ministry said on September 8.
“As a result of active actions of units of the Center group of troops, the settlement of Novogrodovka has been liberated,” the ministry said.
The town of Novogrodovka is located in the Krasnoarmeysk direction on the line Selidovo – Novogrodovka – Grodovka. After this line, the Russian troops will have access to Krasnoarmeysk (Pokrovsk), a strategically important large population center in the west of the DPR. The Russian Armed Forces will thus have the opportunity to conduct an offensive in the rear of the Kurakhovka grouping of the Ukrainian armed forces.
On September 7, the Center group liberated the village of Kalinovo in the DPR, east of Selidovo.
