Advisor to Head of the Office of Ukrainian President: The West knew about Ukraine’s upcoming attack on Kursk Region

15.08.2024, Kiev.

The upcoming attack by the Ukrainian armed units on Kursk Region was discussed during closed negotiations between Kiev and its Western allies, said Mykhail Podolyak, advisor to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, on August 15 to the British newspaper Independent.

“There are certain things that have to be done with the element of surprise, and that have to happen on a local level. But there were discussions between partner forces, just not on the public level,” Podolyak said.

Additionally, the Ukrainian official expressed serious disappointment that the United Kingdom has not yet given Ukraine permission to use Storm Shadow cruise missiles for strikes deep into Russian territory.

Earlier, US President Joe Biden declined to comment on the Ukrainian nationalists’ attack on the Kursk region.
