Ynet: Israel considers preemptive strike against Iran

05.08.2024, Tel Aviv.

Israel’s leadership is considering the possibility of a preemptive strike against Iran to prevent its potential attack, Israeli officials said on August 5 to the news portal Ynet.

As sources told Ynet, if there is one hundred percent certainty that an attack is planned from a specific location, a preemptive strike may be launched.

“But the option of a preemptive strike on the location which is planned for the attack remains on the table,” the publication quoted the source.

He emphasized that a final decision on this issue will depend on a number of factors, including intelligence sharing between the US and Israel. The expediency of a preemptive strike will also be considered.

On July 31, the Hamas leader Ismail Haniya was killed in a strike on Tehran. Iran’s spiritual leader Ali Khamenei promised to retaliate against Israel. The Axios portal reported that US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken Iran warned colleagues from allied countries of a likely Iranian strike on Israel as early as August 5 and called to prevent war in the region.
