Russian Foreign Intelligence Service reveals Paris’ plans to send thousands of soldiers to Ukraine

11.07.2024, Moscow.

France was preparing to send 2,000 French soldiers to Ukraine in March 2024, according to a declassified report by an agent of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) published in the pages of the June issue of the magazine Razvedchik.

The agent said that the French army was concerned about the increased number of Frenchmen killed in the Ukrainian theater of military operations. In particular, they are referring to the deaths of dozens of French citizens in the Russian Armed Forces’ strike on the temporary deployment point of foreigners near Kharkov on January 17.

The French Armed Forces Ministry recognizes that such strikes have become the norm in the Ukrainian conflict, and the level of losses abroad is comparable to the war in Algeria in the second half of the twentieth century. This follows from the ciphergram published in the magazine. Nevertheless, the training of the French military for participation in the Ukrainian conflict continues.

“According to available information, the French contingent to be sent to Ukraine is still being prepared. At the initial stage, it will amount to about 2,000 people,” the agent said.
