Russia and China will begin exploration of the Moon after 2036, the head of Roscosmos State Corporation for Space Activities Yuriy Borisov told journalists on May 16 during a trip to Beijing, RIA Novosti informed.

“According to the plan, lunar expansion will start approximately after 2036,” he stated.

Borisov noted that now cooperation with the United States in the space sphere is limited to contacts on the ISS. According to him, in the future cooperation, for example, on the Russian orbital station is not ruled out.

Cooperation with China is much deeper and more comprehensive. In particular, Russia has begun preparing a nuclear power plant for a joint scientific station on the Moon with China. The plant is expected to be sent to the Moon in 2033-2035.
