Trade turnover between Russia and Central Asian countries exceeded $44 billion, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said on May 14 at the opening of the IV Central Asian Conference of the Valdai International Discussion Club.

He noted that Russia accounts for 33% of Central Asia’s total foreign trade.

“Now the volume of such transactions with Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan has reached 80%, with Uzbekistan – 55%, with Turkmenistan – 24%,” Galuzin said.

He noted that the countries of the region and Russia are natural partners and allies. This is due to several factors, including geographical ones. The diplomat also pointed to the common border with Kazakhstan.

Galuzin emphasized that Moscow respects the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Central Asian countries.
