Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman blasts Eurovision-2024: “coven” and “funeral of Western Europe”

12.05.2024, Moscow.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova criticized the Eurovision-2024 contest, calling it a “coven” and a “ritual sacrilege” in her Telegram account on May 11.

Eurovision 2024 has outdone any orgy, coven or ritual sacrilege. Western Europe’s funeral is going on normally. Without surprises,” Zakharova wrote.

As an illustration of her words, she published a video with a slice of performances of contestants from different countries. The action on stage is accompanied by Igor Kornelyuk’s music, which sounded at the “Satan’s ball” in the TV series “The Master and Margarita.

Russia has not participated in Eurovision in recent years. In 2022, the country was suspended from the contest because of the situation in Ukraine.

Instead of Eurovision, Russia plans to hold its own music contest – Intervision – in 2024, in which several countries have already expressed interest in participating.
