A conflict between the desire to continue the previous way of life and the understanding that the Russians are under threat of elimination is taking place in the minds of the Russian elite, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, philosopher and political scientist Sergey Kurginyan said on April 8 on Belarusian channel BelTA.
Kurginyan said he was proud that Russia, disfigured and exhausted by its attempts to creep into the Western world, was the first to challenge the West’s hegemony.
The philosopher noted that Russia today has certain achievements on this path. Its economy has not failed after the special operation began, the shelves in its shops are full, shells are supplied, and the army is fighting much better than one could imagine.
“To go on, we need to identify the highest of the slow rates. Because if we rush now, everything can fail. We need to do it slowly, carefully, providing certain stability structures,” Kurginyan notes.
“But I cannot understand why we cannot develop a planned-market Russia with a defense budget of 15 or even 20 per cent. This happened in the world before!”
According to the philosopher, the Russians have demonstrated their understanding of how serious the situation is when they offered great support to President Vladimir Putin at the elections, and this can be made the driver of the development. And we need a multi-dimensional approach nationalizing one sectors and offering economic easing to others.
“But this must be done in a systemic way, totally rejecting the dominating idea that ‘we will win a classical war and thus reach peace and awards to lead our previous way of life.’ This will never happen! Two forces are fighting within the Russian elite: the neurosis of wealth and the instinct of self-preservation,” Kurginyan said.
Also, according to the political scientist, the condition of mind of the Russian elite is closely watched by China and Iran, which remember very well what Russia of 1990s or 2000s was.
“Never mind what the Russians are saying. But what will they do? Any phrase of this kind is watched through the magnifying glass raising its meaning,” the philosopher explained.
Also, Kurginyan indicated that any processes inside our country must be consistent with further denazification of Europe and the understanding what length the West is ready to go.
“We expect a strategically threatening holding out and a strategic prize beyond this holding out. The USA wants to hold out, and so do we,” the leader of Essence of Time concluded.
