The legitimacy of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky will soon be questioned by many, including in Ukraine itself, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said during the program “Moscow. Kremlin. Putin” on Russia 1 TV channel on April 28.
“It seems to me that Zelensky’s fate is unambiguously predetermined. And very soon there will come a moment when many, including in Ukraine, will question his legitimacy,” Peskov said.
He added that legally it will have to be done anyway and then Zelensky will have to give some excuses.
At the same time, Peskov noted Russia’s priorities, for which the most important thing for Russia is to continue the special operation in order to protect itself and fulfill all the tasks set at the beginning of the SMO.
According to the Ukrainian constitution, presidential elections were supposed to be held back in March. However, Zelensky said that it’s “not the right time” for elections in Ukraine and they cannot be held until the hostilities end. The mandate of Ukraine’s current president expires after May 20.
