Unpredictability and conflict potential in international relations have increased, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev said on April 24 at the plenary session of the 12th International Meeting of High Representatives in Charge of Security Issues.
“Unpredictability and conflict potential in international relations have significantly increased at the moment,” Patrushev said.
According to him, as Russian President Vladimir Putin said earlier, this is largely due to the transition to a multipolar world. This causes rejection and opposition from individual states seeking to preserve their hegemony.
“As a consequence, there are trends toward devaluing international law and its institutions, erosion of the UN’s central role in resolving global and regional conflicts,” Patrushev said.
He noted that international security is affected by both long-standing and newly emerging conflicts, from which no country can remain aloof in the conditions of modern information technologies.
The secretary of the Russian Security Council said, “Russia will continue to advocate the creation of a just world order that meets the interests of the majority of countries and is based on the principles of equality and respect for cultural and civilizational identity.”
