The situation with the loss of Russian ships in the Black Sea is complex, and no quick solution to this problem is foreseen, as no one in the world has any experience in combating crewless marine drones yet, according to the report from the theater of war, published in The Essence of Time newspaper, issue 578.
The Ukrainian General Staff says that Russian Navy ships are not going on combat duty in the Black Sea after the Ukrainian military sank the Russian patrol corvette Sergey Kotov.
A representative of the Ukrainian Navy, Dmitriy Pletenchuk, said in this connection that Ukraine had seized the initiative in the Black Sea and had the opportunity to impose its own terms of combat operations.
“The pre-election week was full of various provocations on the part of the Ukrainian armed units. ‘Breakthrough’ attempts in the Belgorod Region were purely of a media nature, while a series of attacks on oil refineries in Russia are part of a well-thought-out strategy to sway the domestic political situation.
As for the Black Sea… The enemy media, commenting on the loss or damage of several ships in recent months, happily state the loss of 20% of the Black Sea Fleet. These calculations are based not on the actual combat capability, but on the total tonnage, thus being far from the real numbers. Of course, there is nothing in this situation. Although the Russian Defense Ministry does not comment (and rightly so), however, some steps to ensure the safety of the fleet are clearly being taken. But one can’t expect any results in a month or two, because it is a very non-trivial problem – the fight against uncrewed marine drones. And no one in the world has such experience yet,” The Essence of Time editorial reads.
