The invulnerability of the US Abrams tank has been greatly exaggerated, a serviceman of the volunteer corps operating in the Group of Forces Yug, an SPG-9 gunner with the call sign Wesker, who knows the tank firsthand, said on March 25.
The serviceman said that the active protection system of the US Abrams tank did not save it from being destroyed by the Soviet SPG-9 “Kopyo” anti-tank gun. It is enough to hit it with high-explosive shaped charge projectile.
“Four high-explosive shaped charge projectiles fired from the SPG are enough to destroy Abrams tank. Even an additional active protection system does not help. The foreign vehicle is still a vulnerable target,” Wesker said.
The serviceman also added that the US tanks delivered to Ukraine did not impress him: he saw with his own eyes how they burned after FPV drone strikes.
