26.03.2024, Moscow.

Russian servicemen of the 1st Independent Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 1st Army Corps, Group of Forces Yug,  successfully towed a German infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) “Marder” from the battlefield, the Russian Defense Ministry wrote on March 26.

The trophy IFV was evacuated at night, but a thorough engineering preparation for the operation was carried out beforehand – a new road was laid, minefields were cleared, and a stealthy approach to the site was ensured.

The Russian platoon and the brigade’s tank battalion successfully removed the first Marder, which had only minor damage, from the contact line between the two sides.

“Miracle” of German military equipment, weighing about 30 tons, firmly stuck in the viscous Russian soils, and the Ukrainian militants fled, abandoning the vehicle.

The Marder IFV can carry up to seven paratroopers to a battlefield. It is armed with a 20mm RH 202 automatic cannon paired with a 7.62mm MG3 machine gun, which is mounted on top of a two-seat turret.
