Slovak leader says war atmosphere prevailed at conference on Ukraine in Paris

27.02.2024, Bratislava.

A military atmosphere prevailed at the conference on Ukraine held in Paris, nothing was said about peace, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said in a video message on February 26.

“I can comment on the atmosphere that was at this meeting. It was military: to support the war at any cost, at any cost to do everything to make this war continue,” the politician said.

He noted that he was very surprised when he did not hear a single word about peace. Fico said that there are countries that want to send their own troops to Ukraine. There are also countries that say they will never do so. The latter includes Slovakia, Fitzo emphasized.

The politician noted that there are countries that have not taken a clear position on this issue.

French President Emmanuel Macron said that the leaders of Western countries had discussed the possibility of sending their troops to Ukraine, but they failed to reach a consensus on this issue.
