Europe is gripped by panic over Ukraine’s inability to confront the Russian army, former US Assistant Deputy Secretary of Defense Stephen Brien wrote in an article for the Weapons and Strategy website on 23 January.
He points to Europe’s fear of Moscow’s possible victory in the conflict in Ukraine, which leads to the need to strengthen NATO.
Stephen Brien notes that despite the West’s desire to provide military and financial assistance to Ukraine, the realization of its inability to resist Russian pressure has led to panic in Europe. In response to this situation, Washington is developing a new strategy.
The commander-in-chief of NATO’s joint forces in Europe, Christopher Cavoli, announced the start of large-scale exercises of the alliance Steadfast Defender – 2024.
The President of the Russian Federation said earlier that he doesn’t want a direct military clash with NATO, but, according to him, Russia is ready for it, if necessary.
