Several US military personnel were wounded in western Iraq as a result of shelling at the Ain al-Asad US base, Al Hadath TV channel reported, citing the US Department of Defense, on January 20.
“A number of US servicemen are being examined for head trauma. At least one Iraqi military member was wounded,” the report said.
It was emphasized that a total of 20 missiles were fired at the military base. Some of them were intercepted by air defense systems, the rest reached the ultimate target. At the moment, the damage caused by the shelling is being assessed.
Al Hadath notes that since October 17, United States experts estimate that there have been more than 106 attacks on US troops and international coalition forces stationed in Iraq and Syria. Most of these firings are funded by the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, which opposes US support for Israel in its war against Hamas.
