Three myths have been busted in the last eighteen months, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, political scientist and philosopher Sergey Kurginyan said on January 8 on the program ObyektivNO.
“The first myth we used to have – otherwise we would have launched the mobilization at the beginning but not later – was the myth about the Russian army’s perfection. It received much support from many TV show hosts,” Kurginyan said. In his opinion, the myth about unprecedented greatness of the Russian army and total misery of the Ukrainian one has already failed.
Further, according to the political scientist, a myth failed that “wonderful, brilliant, freedom-loving Ukrainian army, burning with the sublime flame and offensivene spirit” supported by the entire West would triumphantly move forward after its success near Kharkov.
“Then the third myth came, i.e. a myth about unlimited capabilities of the West, about its unrestrained desire to provide ‘everything for the front, everything for the victory.’ as we used to say during the Great Patriotic War, that it will do everything for Ukraine, for its victory, and maybe even more than that. All that failed during the counteroffensive, because it has turned out that the Ukrainian army is no that good, and the West is far from perfect, so this counteroffensive ended in a shameful failure,” Kurginyan told.
He added that the Ukrainian counteroffensive was doomed to fail, because the Ukrainian side described it revealing where it would go, what would happen on day one etc.
According to Kurginyan, the Ukrainian side was overwhelmed, it retreated, it achieved nothing, and it suffered dramatic casualties both in personnel and equipment.
