Will Turkey allow Romania’s geopolitical plans to be realized? Opinion

27.12.2023, Moscow.

Romania dreams of creating and leading a southern alliance of countries against Russia, but Turkey has its own ambitions on the matter, according to a report from the theater of war in The Essence of Time newspaper, issue 565.

NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Joane said in early December that all countries neighboring Romania will become part of the European and Euro-Atlantic family in the near future.

According to Joane, Romania will cease to be the eastern border of the West and will finally leave the periphery of Europe and become its center. He emphasized that such geopolitical changes in the region are influenced by the conflict in Ukraine.

“And what will happen to ambitious Turkey? It is unlikely that it will allow Romania to lead this ‘southern alliance’ against Russia,” The Essence of Time editorial reads.
