A member of Keretskov village council in Ukraine’s Transcarpathian region detonated grenades during a meeting on December 15, the press service of the country’s National Police reported.
The incident was reported to law enforcers at 11:37 a.m. local time (12:37 p.m. Moscow time).
“One of the council members exploded grenades in the building of Keretskov rural council of Mukachevo district during the meeting,” the agency informed.
According to the police, the perpetrator of the incident survived. He, as well as 6 of the 26 other victims, are in serious condition. Investigative authorities have opened a criminal case under the article on the illegal handling of weapons. At the same time, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) is investigating under the article on terrorist acts.
According to the Ukrainian mass media, three grenades were detonated at a meeting of the village council by Serhey Batrin, a deputy from the Servant of the People party, born in 1969. He came to the meeting, which was held in a small room, and at first he briefly watched the heated discussion of his colleagues from the door. Then he tried to take the floor and afterwards threw three grenades on the floor.
