A new long-range cruise missile was developed for the fifth-generation Su-57 fighter, RIA Novosti reported on October 31.
“The newest long-range cruise missile of intra-fuselage placement was developed for the Su-57 fighter,” the agency noted.
It is emphasized that the range of the new missile is comparable to products in service with long-range aviation, but the size is significantly smaller.
The missile weight reduction was achieved thanks to the internal layout and a new turbojet engine.
A long-range missile can hit a target at a distance of 600 kilometers. The long-range aviation is equipped with missiles with a range of 1,000 to 6,500 kilometers.
The use of long-range missiles allows aircraft to use them without entering the range of enemy air defense systems.
