The West is totally plagued by lies, but it is absolutely self-righteous in criticizing others for lack of truth, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, philosopher and political scientist Sergey Kurginyan said on the program Conversation with a Sage of the Zvezda radio station published on September 26 on the website of Rossa Primavera News Agency.
The conversation about a post-truth society resulted from the degradation of the informational space along with a total discrediting of journalism and politicians. Frequent change of position, reluctance to fulfill promises, violation of treaties have become normal in political life, the political scientist stressed.
A signed document will not necessarily be followed. Just remember the Minsk agreements or the Maidan agreement of the Ukrainian ex-president Viktor Yanukovich with the opposition verified by a number of respected European politicians.
“They said NATO would not expand. But it is expanding. Thus, everyone understands that when I am talking to a counterpart he is telling a lie, and I would be an idiot to speak out the truth. But what kind of a conversation is that then?” Kurginyan wondered.
When Kosovo’s independence was recognized, it ruined the entire global legal framework. Indeed, this case is very similar to what is taking place in Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Nagorny Karabakh, Crimea. But the West declared that independence can be recognized in Kosovo but not elsewhere.
“We will tell any kind of lies, but you must tell the truth, while we will expose your lies,” Kurginyan noted.
“Excuse me, but what about symmetry, what about a world of truth? Thus, they have already taken the territory of lies, but most importantly they are absolutely self-righteous in their complaints about the truth,” he stressed.
Kurginyan reminded about a recent article on BBC, which indignantly discusses how the tone of the Russian diplomacy has changed over the recent years. In particular, the article says that Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland was shocked with the behavior of the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov, whom she has known over decades as a practical and moderate negotiator. The outlet also criticized “non-diplomatic” behavior of the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.
“Nuland says she behaves as a real lady and that her discussion is decent. But he [Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov] used to discuss something decently, but now he has become rude,” Kurginyan says.
This criticism of the Russian diplomats is remarkable because everyone remembers the way Nuland spoke during the Ukrainian maidan.
“Well, just publish 20 records of Nuland’s conversations with the Ukrainians. Indeed, there are hackers who record all that. She is a fishwife, a lout, and an absolute thieve. He speaks a language of ultimate plebeianism. Then she makes a decent face with duck lips, and she says, ‘What is going on? Where are your good manners?’ A second ago she used four-letter words, and now she says, ‘Where are your good manners? How can you speak like that?’” Kurginyan noted.
In other words, as soon as the Western politicians receive replies in their own language they immediately switch from “ultimate vulgarity to self-righteous noble manners.”
In this sense, no one knows what a “rules-based world order” is when the City on the Hill lacks even underworld-level rules, the political scientist noted.
The USA is “all in lies,” “everything is in lies, everyone will be in lies, and they will deceive each other,” Sergey Kurginyan stressed.
