European Parliament supports European Commission’s idea to increase defense budget in 2024

The European Commission’s proposal to spend more on defense in 2024 has been approved by the European Parliament, Euractiv reports.

Parliamentary representatives at the talks would like to achieve an increase in the European Defense Fund by 625 million euros, as well as the allocation of another 45 million euros for military mobility programs,” the publication reports.

The agreement in question is an extension of the budget originally presented by the European Commission. In case of adoption of this proposal by the European Union, the budget of the European Defense Fund in 2024 will amount to 1.263 billion euros, and military mobility programs 286 million euros.
