Thousands of Czechs protest against government in Prague

A mass protest rally under the slogan “Czech Republic against the government” was held in the center of Prague on Wenceslas Square. According to the organizers of the rally, tens of thousands of people took part in it, TASS informed on September 16.

During the rally, speakers accused the Czech government of worsening the economic situation in the country and neglecting the interests of citizens in favor of Ukraine. They also negatively assessed the European Union’s actions.

At the end of the event, the protesters marched through the central streets of Prague to the building of the Interior Ministry.

According to the spokesman for the capital’s police, Jan Danek, police used standard security measures during the mass action. During the event, the police detained a man with symbols of the PMC Wagner banned in the Czech Republic. The detainee is suspected of committing a criminal offense under the article “approval and justification of genocide”.

The rally’s main organizer was the extra-parliamentary party Law, Respect, Expertise, whose program is based on harsh criticism of the Czech authorities.
