01.09.2023, Kursk.

The operation of the Kursk nuclear power plant was not affected by the Ukrainian drone strike on Kurchatov, the press service of the plant’s administration wrote on its Telegram channel on September 1.

It is reported that the control room of the Kursk nuclear power plant located in Kurchatov continues to operate normally after the attack.

“Kursk NPP is operating in normal mode,” the report said.

The plant’s press service specifies that the radiation background at Kursk NPP and in the area of its location is at the natural level.

Earlier, Kursk Region Governor Roman Starovoit said that a Ukrainian drone attacked the city of Kurchatov on the morning of September 1.

The UAV hit an empty building. There were no casualties. The facade of the building was damaged.

The city of Kurchatov is located 70 km from the Ukrainian border. Kursk nuclear power plant is located in the city.

This is not the first drone attack on the Kursk region. Russian air defenses have repeatedly repelled Ukrainian drone attacks in Kursk and Belgorod regions.

A “yellow” terrorist danger level has been introduced throughout the Kursk region since April 11, 2022.
