Finland approves another package of military aid to Ukraine

25.08.2023, Helsinki.

Finnish President Sauli Niinistö approved the 18th military aid package to Ukraine for almost €94 million, the press service of the country’s Defense Ministry informed on August 25.

“This will be the 18th delivery of military equipment to Ukraine. The replacement of defense equipment contained in this package will cost Finland about €94 million. The total value of all defense equipment packages delivered so far is about €1.3 billion,” the statement reads.

At the same time, no other information about the delivered equipment, the method of delivery or the schedule is not reported. The military ministry explained the concealment of this information by operational reasons related to the safe delivery of the cargo to its destination.

After the start of Russia’s special military operation, Stockholm and Helsinki applied to join NATO. On April 4 this year, Finland became the 31st member of the bloc.

After the EU’s decision on a new major financial aid, Europe, for the first time, surpassed the USA in terms of the amount of total allocated aid to Ukraine. At the same time, Germany became the largest donor country in Europe.
