Heroes of Russia’s special military operation are worthy of the glory of the participants of the Kursk Bulge, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on August 23 during an event in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Kursk.
“Today, here on the legendary Kursk land, high state awards will be presented to our heroes, servicemen, participants of the special military operation, who are worthy of the glory of the heroes of the Kursk Bulge, those who fought the Nazis in the summer of 1943,” Putin said.
He noted that the Russian military entered the battle “bravely and decisively” during the special operation.
The Battle of Kursk took place from July 5 to August 23, 1943. The Red Army thwarted the last major offensive operation of the Nazis and seized the initiative. According to historians, this battle was one of the turning points in the Great Patriotic War. More than 2 million Red Army soldiers took part in it.
