EU considers sending military instructors to Ukraine

13.07.2023, Madrid.

The possibility of sending military instructors to Ukraine is being considered in Brussels, the El Pais newspaper wrote citing an internal document of the European diplomatic service.

It is assumed that over time, when circumstances allow, the training of Ukrainian military personnel may be transferred from Poland and Germany, where it is currently taking place, to the territory of Ukraine.

There was also talk about strengthening the country’s air defense. According to the newspaper, the EU countries are also discussing the financing of supplies of advanced weapon systems – missiles and fighter jets.

NATO member-countries already provided Ukraine with military aid worth over $55 billion. They are supplying Ukraine with weapons to counter the Russian military special operation in Donbass. Among it are US large-caliber artillery systems and high-precision HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems, Abrams tanks, as well as German Leopard tanks.

Recently, the intention to supply Ukraine with US F-16 fighter jets has been announced. However, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the decision on the deliveries would depend on the results of combat operations.
