Russia doubles production of fighter jets for needs of special operation

Russia doubled production of Su-34 and Su-35 fighter jets for the special operation in Ukraine, First Deputy Director General of Rostec Vladimir Artyakov said, the Rossiya 24 TV channel reported on July 10.

“We are also involved in aircraft production, in some positions, we have also doubled the number of combat aircraft produced for the Ministry of Defense. These are Su-30, Su-34, Su-35,” Artyakov said.

He added that the use of these aircraft has shown very great results on the contact line and in carrying out the tasks of the special military operation.

On February 24, 2022, after the appeal of the heads of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR) with a request for assistance, Russia launched a military special operation in Donbass and began demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. To neutralize the response of the Ukrainian armed units, Russian troops launched precision-guided weapons strikes on military infrastructure. Military warehouses, military airfields, and troop control points were hit on Ukrainian territory.

The Kiev authorities chose a different strategy. The Ukrainian armed units, together with Ukrainian nationalist armed units, carry out daily shelling of peaceful towns in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics and the liberated territories of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.

Strikes are also being carried out on Russian border territory. In addition, Ukrainian armed units and nationalist battalions prevent Ukrainian civilians from leaving the territory where hostilities are taking place, using them as human shields.

On October 10, 2022, the Russian Armed Forces began strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure two days after the terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge, which Ukraine’s intelligence services were involved in, according to the Russian government information. As the leader of state Vladimir Putin noted, with the attack on the bridge, the Ukrainian authorities equated themselves with the most odious terrorist groups, and “it is simply impossible to leave such crimes unpunished.”
