FSB prevents terrorist attacks on Sakhalin

A member of a Ukrainian nationalist organization was detained in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk; he is suspected of preparing terrorist attacks, the FSB Public Relations Center informed on July 5.

It is reported that the detainee is a Russian citizen born in 1980.

The agency reported that the detained citizen planned to commit terrorist acts “at the island’s power grid facility and at the military commissariat.”

The detainee himself admits in the footage published by the FSB that he was going to commit a terrorist attack at the energy facility at night and then to take pictures and send the photos to the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU).

During the search, officers found in his possession components for making improvised explosive devices, gadgets with instructions for assembling explosive and incendiary devices, as well as extremist content and correspondence with the coordinator of the Ukrainian terrorist organization.

Criminal proceedings were initiated under Part 1 of Article 30 and Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code (preparation for a terrorist attack) and Article 275 of the Criminal Code (treason).
