The Investigative Committee of Russia initiates criminal cases against foreign mercenaries of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Criminal cases against 160 foreign mercenaries taking part in a special military operation on the side of Ukraine have been opened by the Investigative Committee of the Russia Federation, the head of the department, Alexander Bastrykin, told reporters on June 29.

As a result of cooperation with the Russian Defense Ministry and other operational services, evidence of the participation of mercenaries from Georgia, the United States, Latvia, Sweden and other countries has been collected. At present, criminal prosecution of 160 foreigners from 33 countries is underway,” Bastrykin said.

In these cases, investigators continue to clarify the circumstances of unlawful acts committed by the mercenaries, as well as building the evidence base.
