Germany will not be able to allocate funds in the long-term EU budget for aid to Kiev

16.06.2023, Berlin.

Germany will not be able to make additional payments to the long-term European Union (EU) budget aimed at aiding Ukraine, head of the German Finance Ministry Christian Lindner told reporters on June 16.

“The European Commission may demand additional payments to the EU’s long-term budget to aid Ukraine, but Germany will not be able to participate,” he said.

Lindner explained to Die Welt that Germany is currently forced to cut the national budget, so Berlin cannot make additional contributions to the EU budget.
