The Russian army will receive a new weapon, the Borodach rocket-assisted flamethrower, which will help it storm the fortifications occupied by the Ukrainian armed units, RIA Novosti informed on May 26.
It is reported that combat operations in cities and when storming fortified areas are carried out at short distances. This required the creation of a new weapon. More compact than the existing models and more powerful at the same time.
The Borodach is similar in design to the disposable grenade launchers used by the Russian Army. It is classified as a thermobaric weapon. It is produced in three versions, with different warheads: thermobaric, incendiary, and smoke. Its weight is 4.5 kilograms and the range of the shot is up to 450 meters.
Fighting in dense residential areas makes it difficult to use artillery and aviation, and the short range of battle poses a risk to the tank crews and pilots. The advancing infantry needs its own weapons capable of suppressing enemy firing points.
A sample product was shown at the MILEX-2023 armament exhibition, held in Belarus in May this year, and is designed to defeat enemy manpower in fortifications.
