Partition of Ukraine between NATO and Russia is not advantageous now. Opinion

16.05.2023, Moscow.

The possible partition of Ukraine between Russia and NATO does not bode any advantages to Russia in the short term, according to a summary from the theater of war published in The Essence of Time newspaper, no. 533.

According to the Ukrainian Telegram channel ZeRada, the Ukrainian president’s office has devised a cunning plan that could completely change the course of the conflict, “Ukraine will be accepted to NATO the day after the war ends.”

It is expected that if NATO makes a deferred decision to access Ukraine, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky will deprive domestic rivals of the argument about the meaninglessness of a year of fighting after the Istanbul-1 agreements. In addition, the peacekeeping game of Russia and China will be broken, as it will become unprofitable for them to measure up under the existing conditions.

It is noted that in such a scenario, stopping the fighting would not be a political defeat, but a salvation and Zelensky’s main interest.

“The idea is not pointless, taking the contionus remors of upcoming peace talks. Besides, condemnation (or discussion?) of Warsaw’s plans to occupy the Ukrainian territories adjacent to Poland that are regularly voiced by high ranking representatives of Russian elite can be interpreted as a hint at the future partition of Ukraine – we give you a part of Ukraine and you give us a peace treaty on acceptable terms. However, this scenario does not bode any advantages to Russia, even in the short term,” The Essence of Time‘s editorial reads.
