China is interested in stabilizing relations with the USA to gradually strangle it in its economic embrace, a report from the theater of war published in The Essence of Time newspaper, no 531 reads.
China is stepping up its response to US sanctions against it. In particular, Beijing plans to limit exports of rare-earth metals to the West, creating serious problems for the European and US car industry.
Against this background, a meeting was held in China between Chinese and US trade officials. After that, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said that Washington is committed to a healthy economic relationship with China.
Some observers in China saw this as an opportunity for a breakthrough in relations. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said that tensions in Sino-US relations resulted from a misperception of China.
“In fact, the Chinese are not at all opposed to making peace with the United States in order to gradually strangle it its economic embrace. The Russia-China alliance is also governed by the benefits Beijing can derive from it,” The Essence of Time‘s reads.
