Kurginyan: The free market is a competition between tomatoes and weeds

28.04.2023, Aleksandrovskoye.

People who believe in the market and free competition need to implement them in their garden, allowing free competition between tomatoes and weeds, said philosopher, analyst, and leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan on the air of the Conversation with a Sage program on Radio Zvezda on April 6.

The political scientist pointed out that some people still believe that the market will set priorities, that as a result of ruthless competition between people, some kind of development will prevail. Kurginyan suggested that adepts of the market implement the idea of free competition in their garden.

Have you tried implementing competition in your vegetable garden? Have you used the free market or not? Do you allow free competition between a tomato and a weed in your garden bed? If you allow it, then it is clear that you honestly believe that competition will set priorities,” he said.

He recalled how the first president of Russia, Boris Yeltsin, talked about it. “When the dormant forces of the market start working!” – is Yeltsin’s phrase, according to the analyst, was almost “chthonic in nature“.

The market with its free competition is ruthlessly destroying culture, Kurginyan believes. “Either you plow, pull the weeds and create a field and harvest. Or you believe in the forest. Then you are engaged in gathering,” he explained. The philosopher asked what kind of free market we can talk about when hunting and gathering have been replaced by farming where one cultivates the field and destroys the weeds.

Kurginyan reminded that at first, plowing the field was perceived by people as a terrible crime, as “incest, human intercourse through the plow with Mother Earth“.

People saw that the grain that fell into the ground decayed, and transformed, gave new life. “So do we, when we go into the ground and are buried like a fallen grain, we will be transformed, embraced by this fire – and rise again, ” noted the leader of the Essence of Time movement, pointing to the ancient Egyptian cult of Osiris, associated with dying and resurrection.
