The appointment of Annalena Baerbock as German Foreign Minister was a “mistake”, German politician Sahra Wagenknecht of the Left (Die Linke) party said on April 21 in an interview with the Swiss magazine Die Weltwoche.
According to Wagenknecht, the head of the foreign ministry should be the country’s chief diplomat and, regardless of personal preferences, build the best possible relations with all states.
“It is totally inappropriate to act like a bull in a china shop,” Wagenknecht stressed. She added that, “China is one of Germany’s largest trading partners, with many German companies investing in its economy.”
In general, the Green Party, in Wagenknecht’s view, “has changed radically from ardent opponents of military service to tank specialists” who are convinced that by supplying weapons to Ukraine they are taking the side of good.
“It’s a disaster not to understand that more soldiers and civilians are dying from it,” Wagenknecht noted.
