The Western countries changed the rules of the game, and they declared that they canceled state sovereignty, said political scientist and philosopher, the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan on the program Conversation with a Sage on the Zvezda radio station on April 6.
Having realized that they were losing against China and India, the Western countries were afraid to begin a world war as it could escalate to a nuclear one. Instead, a medium war was started, i.e. the war in Ukraine. “A war like this is possible, i.e. a conventional war without nuclear weapons etc., along with the escalation of the arms race,” Kurginyan stressed.
But the most important thing to the West is to change the rules of the global game, the political scientist said.
“When they say here that sovereignty is the most important thing and that we finally realized this, that we will teach this in textbooks in all possible ways etc., I am sorry but I have to say that it is too late,” Kurginyan stressed.
He explained that in sovereignty, the most important issue is who is the sovereign. In a feudal society, the sovereign was the king, and his chosen nature came from the God. Then the situation changed.
“Gradually, people became the sovereign, through elections etc. To this end, however, they had to be a nation, an actor of development, but this turned out to be seriously challenged at certain moment,” the political scientist said.
He reminded that even National Security Advisor to US President and Secretary of State Henry Kissinger said that the Westphalian system was over. “The world of sovereignties is canceled along with the authoritarian modernization, because a nation that can become sovereign is built through authoritarian modernization,” Kurginyan explained.
The Westphalian system of international relations formed after the Westphalian peace agreement that ended the the Thirty Years’ War in 1648. This is the peace treaty that established state sovereignty in its modern sense.
