Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov: Projects for technological independence from the West are being prepared

15.04.2023, Moscow.

Projects on technological independence from the lawlessness of the West will be ready in time for the Council of Heads of Governments, which will be held on June 8 in Sochi, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a news conference in Samarkand on April 14.

Additional decisions on the development of trade and economic cooperation between the CIS countries are being prepared. They will be submitted to the Council of Heads of Governments on June 8 this year in Sochi,” Lavrov said.

Lavrov specifies that a number of projects are devoted to increasing our common technological independence from the “lawlessness” of the West. Washington and its satellites are blatantly and inadequately abusing their position in the global economy, for example, in global finance.

Some countries, not Russia, are already calling for moving away from the US dollar in trade to national currencies. This trend is irreversible, Lavrov stressed.

The foreign minister stressed that sanctions are a road to nowhere. The West declared its principles in the foundation of globalization, but they themselves rudely violate these principles in favor of their own geopolitical games, said Lavrov.

Western countries and the United States want to maintain their hegemony at any cost. That’s why everyone considers it right to end dependence on the West and develop mechanisms that will allow countries to develop their national economy in accordance with their own interests, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized.
