The current situation with the special military operation in Ukraine cannot be compared with the betrayals of the First Chechen War, the situation is completely different, said philosopher, political scientist, the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan in an interview to the Metametrica YouTube channel published on April 4.
Kurginyan recalls the story told by one of his distant relative, when during the time of the Romanovs, Grigory Rasputin demanded to show him military maps, and then later, German artillery hit the marks where Russian positions were located. According to the political scientist, a special topographical department was created in order to solve this very problem, where fake maps were drawn: “the adjutant is standing there and says: ‘Your Excellency, here come the one with the beard … ‘. And they present a different map to him.”
“But didn’t one of the military leaders tell me something similar about the First Chechen War, when he intercepted communication, where he’d heard them saying: ‘Now we will call the Kremlin, and they will stop the artillery strikes.” And, in five minutes they, indeed, stopped them, ”- the philosopher gave another example from the Russian history.
As for the current events, according to him, there is nothing like it, everything is much better.
“As far as the state television is concerned, it keeps repeating its patriotic agenda, and it’s a great thing. As for the intelligentsia, it speaks a lot from patriotic positions; and our military correspondents, they may say too much, at times, still, they are heroes, they are great,” noted the political scientist.
The current system has endured, and much of what Russian President Vladimir Putin has done has been right, added the expert. Russia waited for the US to declare China an enemy, which is very important. After all, China in 2010, 2011, 2014 and current China are completely different things, pointed out Kurginyan.
Russia has achieved something in the Arab world, as well as stability of oil prices, and many other things, but they were looking for something completely different, said the political scientist, hinting at the desire for integration with the West.
“They were so eager to become friends with the West, built these Nord Streams and such, now all this is going to hell! As for the people who did become one with the Western world, what should they do? This is the main question,” Kurginyan is asking.
He urged to be honest and find out who rooted the Russian elites in the West and how, who appointed ex-defense minister Anatoly Serdyukov, and so on.
“We need to get to the bottom of it and start a new process. We have been forced to take up the cross of the Empire again, and it’s impossible to bear it and howl at the same time,” concluded Kurginyan.
