The fence of Belgorod International Airport was damaged as a result of a UAV attack, the airport’s emergency services told RIA Novosti on April 11.
The explosive device detonated when it hit the fence, but according to preliminary data, there are no victims or casualties, as the airport does not operate. As noted by experts, in addition to the fence, the alarm cable was also damaged.
Specialists are investigating the site of the explosion and studying the wreckage of the drone.
Belgorod international airport is 35 km from the border with Ukraine. Due to the flight restriction regime imposed by the Federal Air Transport Agency in the areas bordering Ukraine, it has not been operating since February 24, 2022.
The border regions, including Belgorod region, have been repeatedly attacked and shelled by the Ukrainian armed forces. There is a high level of terrorist danger on the territory of the region.
