Russian presidential spokesman Peskov: Minsk agreements were a shell game

09.04.2023, Moscow.

The Minsk agreements were a deception by the West that brought the special operation closer, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on April 9 in the “Moscow.Kremlin.Putin” program.

Yes, with the Minsk agreements – it was a shell game with us, we were deceived. And it aggravated the situation, it encouraged in many ways the Kiev regime, untied their hands to arrange a massacre of Russians in their country, and it brought closer a special military operation,” Peskov said.

Earlier, former German Chancellor Angela Merkel said in an interview with German media that the Minsk agreements were concluded to give the Kiev regime time to prepare for a military confrontation with Russia.

In response, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he was disappointed with Merkel’s words. He added that the decision to launch a special operation was correct because the West was not going to fulfill its obligations.
