In terms of economic achievements, the USSR had become the second best in the world, while the Russian Empire was only fifth or sixth, said philosopher, political scientist, the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan in an interview to the Metametrica YouTube channel published on March 25.
Today, when they mention the Bolsheviks they recall how bad they were; however, what they actually did for the country must be clarified, noted the political scientist.
The political scientist reminded that when the Bolsheviks expropriated grain and sold it abroad at dumping prices, they imported Western machine tools into the country and built factories.
Thanks to 10 thousand factories built in 10 years, the USSR was able to win the war against Nazi Germany. In contrast, the Russian Empire lost wars.
“Why were we (the Russian Empire) defeated in the conflict with Japan and in the Crimean war? Why did we lose? In essence, no matter what anyone says, we were defeated in the First World War?” – he asked rhetorically.
“Why? Because we were fifth-sixth place in the world in terms of industrial potential. Fifth – sixth place in the world. In 10 years, the Bolsheviks brought the country to the second … ” – explained Kuriginyan.
The political scientist also touched upon the issue of the Brest peace treaty ratified by Lenin. He noted that this agreement lasted only nine months, and Lenin himself considered it indecent.
“Then, Lenin took the torch of the world Revolution, threw it into Germany, and the Brest deal has ended. Then, he restored the Empire, which was, first, destroyed first by the Romanovs; then, the Provisional Government finished it off to the end; and then a superpower came about,” noted the leader of the Essence of Time.
