The adoption of the pension reform bypassing the parliament shows that President Emmanuel Macron is turning into an authoritarian leader, according to a summary from the theater of war published in The Essence of Time newspaper.
According to the French Interior Ministry, more than 1 million people came out to protest in the whole country. The General Confederation of Labor (CGT) union claimed 3.5 million strike participants.
In Paris, the police counted 120,000 protesters, while the union estimated their number at 800,000.
During the protests against the pension reform in France, 123 police officers were injured. 80 people were detained.
“The piquancy of the pension reform in France is that it was adopted in circumvention of democratic procedures, but in accordance with the law.
In essence, Macron is turning into an authoritarian ruler while formally remaining in the camp of democracy. As they say, what is permissible for Jupiter is not permissible for cows,” The Essence of Time’s editorial reads.
