Ukraine and Poland may create common border checkpoints, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Sergey Derkach said on the air of the Rada TV channel on April 2.
According to Derkach, both sides are working on the creation of such border checkpoints.
“Let me explain what is a common border crossing point between Poland and Ukraine. It is a one room, one territory, where a car or a person comes in and there is a control by border guards and customs officers of one and the other country simultaneously, it speeds up the border crossing procedure and reduces the risks of corruption and smuggling, because police officers of both countries work there,” he explained.
The official said that the final document-agreement on the creation of border crossing points is currently being signed by the Polish authorities.
It is reported that their construction is planned to begin in late 2023 – early 2024.
Derkach said that Kiev hopes that such common border crossings may appear with other EU countries.
